Our Story

How Misato Began

Misato was born from the desire to create a meaningful fashion label that respects Indian craftsmanship. We wanted to bring thoughtful design and skilled artistry together, creating Indian ethnic wear for women that feels relevant today while staying connected to the traditions and people behind it.

What We Saw in the Industry

As fashion moved toward faster, machine-led production, we noticed that many traditional techniques and skilled artisans were receiving less attention. It made us ask an important question: how can modern Indian clothing grow without losing the craftsmanship, detail and human effort that give it character? Misato was built around that thought.

Why Handloom Matters to Us

For us, handloom represents skill, patience and knowledge passed through generations. Every weave carries the effort of the artisan behind it. By supporting handloom, we want to keep these techniques relevant, respect the people who practice them, and bring their work into contemporary Indian womenswear.

How We Support Weavers

Supporting weavers in Misato is about more than showcasing their work. Our focus is on ensuring their skills, time, and traditional knowledge are properly valued. We want handloom weaving to remain relevant in contemporary fashion, give artisans greater visibility, and bring their craftsmanship to new audiences through modern Indian clothing.

What Misato Wants to Preserve

Misato’s aim is not merely to showcase traditional fashion but also to preserve the skills, techniques, and stories that have been an integral part of Indian craftsmanship for generations. For us, every weave and detail holds a cultural connection, and we want this art form to remain relevant through modern Indian ethnic wear for women.

Meet Our Founder

Kamini Dubey’s journey into fashion was not a straight path. With a background in Engineering, she first learned discipline, problem-solving and resilience, but her creative side eventually led her toward Fashion Designing. Over the years, she gained hands-on understanding of design, sourcing, production, quality and customer experience. Misato grew from this journey, shaped by persistence, learning and a clear desire to build something meaningful in Indian fashion.

The Road Ahead

Misato’s focus moving forward is not merely on expanding collections, but on evolving through a commitment to craftsmanship, community, and conscious growth. We aim to keep handloom traditions, skilled weavers, and women artisans an integral part of our journey, while bringing Indian ethnic wear for women to a wider audience—driven by stronger design, quality, and purpose.

Made with Meaning

For Misato, fashion is not just what we create, but why we create is equally important. Through each collection we want to connect craftsmanship, people and purpose in a meaningful way. Our journey continues with the same intention: to create thoughtfully, support responsibly, and grow without losing sight of where we began.
